Andrew Chung:
LightSpeed Venture Partners

Andrew joined Lightspeed in 2006 and focuses on investments in cleantech, internet, digital media, and software. He has over seven years of investing, consulting, and operating experience. He helped initiate Lightspeed's investment program in cleantech and is currently observing the boards of Coaltek, Stion, and Exclara.

Andrew has been an invited cleantech and internet panelist at a number of industry events, including TiEcon, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory Industry Growth Forum, and the Wharton Technology Conference. He is a selection committee member for the Cleantech Venture Forum, serves as the first-ever Cleantech Content Chair for TiECon, and is a member of the organizing committee for the California Cleantech Open. Prior to Lightspeed, Andrew worked at Bain Capital and TL Ventures, where he supported leveraged buyout and venture investments in software, semiconductors, and healthcare. He also co-founded UberWorks, an e-commerce content aggregation startup incubated at Trilogy, and led the company through an acquisition by a public company. He also directed product management at OnStation, a CRM software company, and worked as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company in Greater China, servicing clients in the energy generation, industrial automation, consumer electronics, and private equity sectors.

Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania . Andrew is an avid musician, having performed as a vocalist at distinguished venues like the Lincoln Center , the Kennedy Center , the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and an off-Broadway musical theatre.

Will Coleman brings a background in energy-related technology, development, and policy to the MDV team. He focuses on cleantech investments. In addition to investing, Will supports MDV cleantech companies.

Prior to MDV Will worked in Washington, DC as the legislative director for the Renewable Energy Action Project, and as an independent consultant for private equity and project finance clients focusing on the energy sector. In 2004, Will was invited to sit on the California Energy Commission's Biofuels Working Groups to formulate strategies for reducing California's dependence on petroleum. Will has also worked for GE Wind in the commercial operations group, Xseed Capital, and on a variety of renewable energy deployment projects in China, India, and West Africa.

Will completed his MBA and an MS in Energy & Resources from University of California, Berkeley. While at Berkeley Will founded the Berkeley Energy & Resources Collaborative (BERC) and the new Center for Energy & Environmental Innovation (CEEI).

Will earned an AB magna cum laude in Social Studies from Harvard University.

Daniel M. Kammen Professor in the Energy and Resources Group; professor of Public Policy, Goldman School of Public Policy; professor of Nuclear Engineering; director of the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory Prof. Kammen received his undergraduate and doctorate degrees in physics at Cornell and then Harvard. While a post-doctoral fellow at Caltech and then back at Harvard he worked on renewable energy technologies and environmental resource management, as well as risk analysis. Prior to coming to Berkeley, he was an Assistant Professor of Public and International Affairs in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University where he helped to develop and then chair the interdisciplinary Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy (STEP) Program. At Berkeley he is the founding director of the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory. His work is highly interdisciplinary, and includes technical, economic, social, policy, and environmental analysis and activism of energy production and use. His focus is on renewable energy, energy policy, and development. His field projects are focused in Africa.

Sanjay Wagle:
Vice President, Vantage Point Venture Partners

Sanjay brings six years of experience in private equity and project finance, with a focus on the clean technologies sector, including renewable energy, clean water, transportation and materials. Prior to VantagePoint, he served as a Principal and member of the founding team of Expansion Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focused on investing in clean technologies. Sanjay previously served as an Associate and Assistant to the Chairman of Blum Capital Partners, and as an Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation, a unit of the World Bank where he focused on leading and structuring project financing for private sector infrastructure projects in the power, transport and water sectors. Sanjay attended Harvard University (BA) and the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley (MBA).

Dan Adler:
California Clean Energy Fund Vice President of CalCEF

Prior to joining CalCEF, Mr. Adler was a senior analyst in the Division of Strategic Planning at the California Public Utilities Commission, where he was responsible for the design and implementation of California's Renewables Portfolio Standard and was senior staff for climate change policy. In addition to energy issues, Mr. Adler has professional experience in international trade policy and socially responsible investment. He has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.A. in Public Policy from Harvard University.


STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD

Jit Bhattacharya

Jit Bhattacharya is a 2nd year MBA at the Haas School of Business. His interests are in clean technology development, emerging energy markets, and international development. Before attending Berkeley, Jit worked for Rural Area Power Solutions in Cape Town, South Africa (now Restio Energy) where he worked on the productive use of solar energy for rural microenterprises. He has his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and began his career in biotechnology and product design consulting for the international design firm IDEO. At Haas, Jit was co-chair of the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative and was one of the founders of the Center for Energy and Environmental Innovation. Jit's research interests are in the technology and economics of clean energy, business models for energy efficiency, and the role voluntary carbon markets can play in developing countries.

Ahmet Kazanc:
Junior, Energy Engineering, Stanford University
